Tangie Sulfate-Free Shampoo bars are here in two heavenly scents – Lavender & Rosemary and Peppermint & Tea Tree.
It is well known that sulfates are an effective cleanser. But when it comes to your scalp and hair, sulfates may be too effective. When used in shampoos, sulfates are intended to strip away the oil and remove dirt. But for hair to stay healthy, it needs to retain some natural oils. That’s where these sulfate free shampoo bars shine!
If you want to use the Curly Girl Method for the best care of your curly, wavy, or frizzy hair, then using a sulfate free shampoo bar is recommended. Keeping some natural oil in your hair allows curls to naturally stay soft and bouncy, and reducing some of the frizzies.
These bars are 100% Plastic Free Packaging, 90% Organic, Palm Oil Free, and Vegan.
Lavender & Rosemary Ingredients: olive oil, coconut oil, saponified sodium hydroxide, sunflower seed oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, rice bran oil, Vitamin E, juice of aloe leaf, rosemary essential oil, lavender essential oil. (Made with 90% organic ingredients.)
Peppermint & Tea Tree Ingredients: olive oil, coconut oil, saponified sodium hydroxide, sunflower seed oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, rice bran oil, Vitamin E, juice of aloe leaf, peppermint essential oil, tea tree essential oil. (Made with 90% organic ingredients.)
These ingredients can stimulate the blood on your scalp which feeds the hair follicles a supply oxygen and nutrients to the hair root, which is where your hair growth begins. These bars are full of nourishing ingredients that leave your hair looking and feeling amazing.
The Lavender, Rosemary, Peppermint, and Tea Tree essential oils are an added scalp stimulate awakening those hair follicles plus a bonus refreshing aromatherapy treatment for your mind & body. Make your shower time a bit of spa time too.
SET YOUR EXPECTATIONS APPROPRIATELY.
If you are accustomed to using a shampoo with sulfate in it, then using a sulfate-free shampoo on your hair will feel very different. When your hair is wet, just after washing and rinsing, your hair will most likely have a ‘greasy’ or ‘heavy’ feel because the natural oils remain on your hair strands although the dirt has been washed away. Traditional shampoo strips the hair of all the oil, leaving that squeaky-clean feeling.
The natural oil in our hair helps keep it from getting too dry or frizzy. When we strip the oil away, we need to use more styling products to put moisture back in. That’s why shampoo bars that don’t have sulfates are good for curly hair- they help the curls stay moist and looking natural. Use some conditioner after washing to help seal (flatten) the hair follicle.
DRY AND STYLE AS USUAL, THEN DECIDE IF A SULFATE-FREE SHAMPOO BAR IS RIGHT FOR YOU.
If you do not like the way your hair performs after styling, you can use his bar as an effective body soap or hand wash. Either way, you do not have to let the bar go to waste!
Please set your expectations appropriately so you are not disappointed by the shampoo usage of this product. Happy showering!
Abbie A. (she/her) –
Gentle and effective for hair and skin. Like most shampoo bars, best results for your hair when followed by a half-and-half vinegar-water rinse/spray (or vinegar plus rosemary mint tea!), which smooths down the hair shaft. I have only tried the rosemary-lavender scent so far; it is light and pleasant, not perfumey. As I write this review, Tangie still hasn’t updated the “How to Use” tab for this item. Ignore the instructions there! As you can tell from the first line, those are the wrong instructions: they belong to the concentrated hand soap, not to this bar. Use this shampoo soap like you would any other bar, directly on your hair/skin. I really like it for my thin, fine, short hair, but I can see it being a godsend for other hair types and lengths as well. I also appreciate how it treats my skin, clean and soft and never drying. Thank you, Tangie!

Hi Abbie. Thank you for taking time to leave a detailed review. We love that and know how helpful it is for others trying to determine if this product is right for them too. We updated the HOW TO USE section on the listing. Thank you for pointing out the mistake. We are very happy that the sulfate free shampoo bar works for you. It is a very different experience than using a shampoo with sulfate in it. Thanks to feedback like your and others we have received, we have also added new details about ‘Setting Expectations’ when using a sulfate free shampoo bar. New content is listed on our NEW SITE 🙂 – where we have greatly expanded product listing with valuable user content. https://tangieco.com/product/zero-waste-sulfate-free-shampoo-bars-by-tangie/
